Band Camp was a Great Success!!!

Well, the first performance is under their belts, the pool party and lock in were a smashing success and we're off to another great season of marching.  The blazing heat had no effect (well, maybe a little) on our intrepid Marching Firebirds.  Welcome to all the incoming band members and their families.  We're happy you're part of the Marching Firebird Family!

Parents!  Thank you for attending the band booster meeting following the band camp festival.  Your participation and spirit of volunteerism for committees and other duties are TRULY appreciated by our kids.  If we don't do it, nobody else will!  Let's show them all the support we can this season and make it one of the most memorable EVER for the band and the band boosters!

Farewell and Good Luck to Tom Hunt...

As you all know by now, Tom Hunt decided to take the assistant director job at Lawrence High.  He did this for a number of reasons, as you can read in his letter to his band family at Free State here.  We wish Mr. Hunt continued success in his new capacity at LHS.

... and Welcome to Meghan Hardy!!

With the departure of Mr., Hunt, a void was created and big shoes needed to be filled.   We are happy to welcome Meghan Hardy to the LFSHS Marching Firebird family.  Meghan matriculated from Kansas State and hails from Independence, KS.  She most recently was Director of Bands at South San Francisco High School.  However, the lure of Kansas was too much for her and we are the benefactors of her youth and experience at the same time.  Welcome, Meghan, and yes, there are Wildcats around here too!

We have heard from enough of you that we are placing an order of the green, short- sleeved t-shirt that was available (in limited sizes) at Parent Night.
